Description

Title: Designing for Success in CTE: Universal Design for Learning in Practice

In celebration of Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, CAST is hosting a free webinar focused on the role of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in CTE, with a specific emphasis on how UDL contributes to a culture of safety in CTE labs and learning spaces. This one-hour panel discussion will bring together CTE educators and leaders from across the country, including a middle school industrial arts teacher in Montana and a postsecondary CTE faculty development lead from Indiana.

Panelists will share practical, field-based perspectives on how UDL supports clear expectations, reduces unnecessary barriers, and helps educators proactively design safer CTE learning environments. The conversation will explore how instructional design, learner variability, and lab structures intersect to support safer participation for all students. The session will be grounded in real-world practice and focused on strategies educators and leaders can apply immediately in CTE classrooms and labs.

Speakers

Amanda Bastoni, Director of Career Technical and Adult Education, CAST
Abraham Ewing, Industrial Arts/CTE Teacher, Polson Middle School, Montana
John Haden, Faculty Development Lead, Ivy Tech Community College, Indiana
